Finally, one thing trending more on social media than politics and the opening day of deer season and that is the Mega Millions drawing which has exceeded $1 BILLION. Yes that is correct with a B – BILLION. The drawing will be at 11 p.m. ET tonight (Friday) in Atlanta, Georgia at the WSB-TV studios. The jack pot is so large that the electronic lottery signs are stuck at $999 million as they only have three number capability.
According to the USA today this is not the largest jackpot ever. The largest lottery jackpot in United States history was $1.6 billion from a Powerball game in January 2016. The former record holder for Mega Millions was a $656 million prize in 2012. The prize was split three ways in both of these drawings, with each winner receiving at least $200 million – before taxes, of course.
You can purchase tickets up until 10:45 PM tonight. The odds against winning is pretty incredible, but we have had a few Bulloch Countians beat those odds through the years. It is fun to dream at the very least.
